  • Lions to Gather for State Convention in North Dakota and 5SKN

Posted at 4:22 pm by rlittlefield2015, on October 21, 2013

This week, the Lions of North Dakota’s two districts–5NE and 5NW–will gather in Dickinson, ND, for their annual State Convention. The Dickinson Lions have planned a great event and all systems are go. Of particular interest to some are the events on Friday afternoon as the local hosts have arranged for tours of the ND oil fields and the operations of some of the crews that keep the oil pumping.

The state meetings, programs, and speakers also planned as part of the program will inform and motivate attendees to continue our good work and spread the power of Lionism throughout our state and multiple district. Of course, for Kathy and me, the district meetings will officially launch our MD5 campaign to gain the endorsement to run for International Director of Lions Clubs International. We are humbled by the  opportunity and energized by the possibility to represent the Lions of North Dakota, our Multiple District 5, and the United States at the international level.

While North Dakota Lions gather in Dickinson, the Lions of District 5SKN will be coming together in Melfort, Saskatchewan. We wish the very best to our Lion friends to the North and hope to see them at the MD5 Convention when we meet in Watertown, South Dakota next May!

Conventions are great opportunities for Lion fellowship. The bonds that unite us as friends strengthen our resolve to reach out to those who need a helping hand. When we come together at conventions, we are stimulated to think creatively about projects and opportunities to provide more service. Conventions are also a lot of fun! We laugh, sing, we remember Lions who have died or are no longer with us, enjoy each other’s company, and create new memories. If you haven’t made other plans for this upcoming weekend, why not travel to Dickinson or Melfort? Watch for future convention opportunities and make a commitment to attend. You will find open arms, welcoming smiles, and friendly greetings. After all, we are one big Lion family and it’s always great to get the family together!
