Rick Brunson, an award-winning journalist and senior Instructor in the Nicholson School of Communication and Media at the University of Central Florida was gracious to interview me last week about my book, Resilience and Renewal: The Story of Lions International and the Crisis of COVID-19. We spent time discussing the motivation for writing the book, as well as what I learned about Lions International and its leaders as they focused on keeping the world’s largest service organization going during the pandemic. That effort was no small feat.
As an organization of about 49,000 local clubs around the world, Lions were challenged to continue serving those in need despite the risk to themselves and their families. At the global level, the administrative leaders and staff remotely juggled the work-life balance to provide creative and innovative responses that helped the executive officers stay connected with local Lions and inspired their continued service. The story is one worth telling and for Lions and non-Lions, the lessons learned have relevance whenever an organization faces a major crisis.
The podcast is in post-production and should be ready for release in the near future. Watch for it! I will keep you posted.
